The cafe conversion

Quick history flash. From what I remember, cafe racer is a 70s term for a stripped down production bike. These bikes got their name from the hooligans of the day who would race one another starting at one cafe and finishing at another. But you know how stories go; we all played telephone in kindergarten.

I still love the name, but it is outdated on today's bikes where the more aggressive moniker of street fighter has taken hold. Same concept though, and for the most part, same practice.....

Here are some of those street fighters in VFR form
:
An early 5th gen like mine. (from a foreign forum of which I lost the site address)
Honda VFR800

Same bike, updated with a slick headlight unit
Honda VFR800

A VERY nice 92 VFR750 done up with some familiar parts. Like the late model CBR tail and tank, GSXR headlight, and an Arrow exhaust setup reminiscent of the early MotoGP 2 stroke days. (picture from Motor-Forum.nl)
Honda VFR750

And lastly, but not leastly, a neat Gixxer sixxer street fighter. (lost this address too...)
Suzuki GSXR600

Such great bikes, and always more motivation to get my project moving.

  1. I'm slowly making my way through this, but it great so far! The pictures are worth a thousand words. That black/yellow GSX above is sweet.
